Australian Medical Council (AMC) Assessments
The Australian Medical Council (AMC) conducts assessments for International Medical Graduates (IMGs) wishing to practice medicine in Australia. The AMC process involves several steps, primarily AMC Part 1 and AMC Part 2 exams.
Options After Passing AMC Part 1
- Proceed to AMC Part 2:
Passing Rate:
AMC Part 1: ~60%
AMC Part 2 (Clinical): ~28% — challenging but crucial.
Alternatives exist to bypass AMC Part 2 and directly enter residency programs (detailed in the next sections).
- Apply for Jobs:
You can apply for jobs with an AMC Part 1 result, but it is more competitive without Part 2.
Many employers prefer candidates who completed both parts as proof of readiness.
Note: Each state/territory has specific requirements—check with relevant medical authorities for updates.
